Press Release

During October and November, the George Adams Gallery will present two benefit exhibitions.

The Gallery will feature ARTISTS RESPOND, an exhibition of new paintings, drawings and sculpture by gallery artists in response to the events of September 11th.  Although each work is a reflection on those events, the artists have addressed the tragedy obliquely.  Works with images most specific to the events are Peter Sauls' drawing of a female skyscraper swatting a plane from the sky, and Jack Beal's mural study which includes the image of three firemen.  Other works in the exhibition include Andrew Lenaghan's Corner of Eldridge and Grand Streets After the Storm, a somber view of the Manhattan skyline with the Empire State Building in the far distance, James McGarrell's twilight landscape Headlights, Lesley Dill's paper sculpture Fragile, and Jose Bedia's canvas Alone I Carry On.  Also in the exhibition are new paintings and drawings by James Barsness, Enrique Chagoya, Valerie Demianchuk, Diane Edison, and China Marks.

15% of the proceeds from the sale of these works will be donated to the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

In the smaller exhibition area the Gallery will exhibit paintings, drawings and prints donated by gallery artists for the I LOVE NEW YORK ART BENEFIT.  Included in this exhibition are works by Barsness, Beal, Bedia, Chagoya, Dill, Edison, Lenaghan, McGarrell, Saul and Sandy Winters.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of these works will be donated to the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

Both the ARTISTS RESPOND and I LOVE NEW YORK ART BENEFIT exhibitions will continue through November 26th. Images of works included in Artists Respond are posted on the gallery website at www.artnet.com/gadams.html.  Images from the I Love New York Benefit are posted on the Benefit website, www.ilovenyartbenefit.org

15% of the sale of works from this exhibition will be donated to the Robin Hood relief Fund.
