Enrique Chagoya, Bathroom Painting, 2018. Acrylic and water based oil on canvas, 12 x 16 inches.

Enrique Chagoya was interviewed for the San Francisco Chronicle Datebook on the topic of the upcoming trasition of executive power. Chagoya explains his reticence to depict the current president in his art, "In ‘Seven Deadly Sins,’ I have done one or two pictures of [Trump], but then I got sick of it. I replaced his face with avatars; instead of Donald Trump, I did Donald Duck."

He continues, "I’m pretty lucky to get away with putting it in an exhibition. In the best-case scenario the work creates some kind of dialogue and hopefully some humor, where people still might be able to laugh and think about how we could change for better."
