Luis Cruz Azaceta, Homo-Fragile, 1983. Acrylic on canvas, 72 x 120 inches.

Collection of the Blanton Art Museum, Austin, TX.

Luis Cruz Azaceta is included in the group exhibition, Pop Crítico/Political Pop: Expressive Figuration in the Americas, 1960s-1980s, at the Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, Texas.

This exhibition gathers works from the museum's collection by American, Latinx and Latin American artists to explore their respective Pop sensibilities as a means to voice a political conscience in art. The exhibition features Azaceta’s 1983 large-scale painting ‘Homo-Fragile,’ part of a visceral body of work from the 1980s responding to the ugliest aspects of humanity. Azaceta is included alongside his contemporaries such as Peter Dean, Peter Saul, and May Stevens, among others. Pop Crítico/Political Pop is on view at the Blanton Art Museum through January 16, 2022.
