Jack Beal, 'Still Life,' 1978 lithograph.

Jack Beal, Still Life, 1978. Color lithograph on black paper, 18 x 24 inches. Collection of the Huntington Museum of Art, Huntington, WV.

Jack Beal is included in a group exhibition at the Huntington Museum of Art, West Virginia. Titled The Art of the Still Life, the exhibition draws from the museum’s collection and traces the tradition of the still-life, beginning in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, and looks critically at how the tradition has evolved and continues to be an impactful subject in contemporary art. Beal is represented by his 1978 lithograph, aptly titled Still Life, and one of many works in which Beal transforms everyday objects and interior domestic scenes into formalized compositions.

The exhibition is on view through June 6. Find more information here.
