Enrique Chagoya, 'Anger,' 2020.

Enrique Chagoya, Anger, 2020. Acrylic, water-soluble oil with glass eyes on canvas, 12 x 16 inches.

Congratulations to Enrique Chagoya and Kara Maria on the opening of their two-person exhibition at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, Sonoma, CA. Double Trouble: Enrique Chagoya and Kara Maria considers the revolutionary spirit of Chagoya and Maria as an artist-couple, artists-activists, and their decades-long contribution to the Bay Area arts scene. Both artists’ work speak to complex socio-political issues such as immigration, authorship, identity, and ecological crises. The exhibition is on view through January 2, 2022.

In tandem with the exhibition, Chagoya and Maria will be participating in an artist lecture at the museum on Saturday, September 25, discussing their personal backgrounds and artistic practices as they relate to works on view.
