Our exhibition of abstract paintings by Elmer Bischoff and Tom Burckhardt, A Dialogue, was recently reviewed by Megan D. Robinson for Art & Object.

Noting both artists' propensity to blur the line between figuration and abstraction, Robison writes "Bischoff’s ability to “jump back and forth, or blur the border” between the two helped [Burckhardt] to see the demarcation between figuration and abstraction as a ridiculous construct." She continues to highlight Bischoff's influence on Burckhardt's work, explaining "the “sense of feel” in Bischoff’s work appealed to Burckhardt; it was “a kind of a human touch” different from the New York intellectualism he grew up with, and [Burckhardt] melded these disparate approaches into a personal, visual language."
