Press Release

Guy Hundere's video installation includes two projections, Impasse (2001) and Tremble (2006)--both developed with animation technology-- that are meditations on perceptual experiences of time and repetition.  Impasse depicts a distant farmhouse set in a rural landscape as it might be viewed from a moving car.  Clouds, fields and highway appear to whiz by while the house remains stationary in a literal illustration of "going nowhere."  In Tremble, a lighted chandelier suddenly shakes from an unseen force.  As the agitation continues and repeats itself, time becomes suspended in a moment of cinematic anticipation.

Guy Hundere, originally from Texas, currently lives and works in Germany. He has exhibited widely in the United States and in Europe at the Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts, Long Branch, NJ; Limerick City Gallery of Art, Ireland; Subspace, Berlin, Germany; McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, Lehman College Art Gallery, CUNY, NY; Blue Star Art Space, San Antonio; and the San Antonio Museum of Art, among others.  In 2006, he was awarded a residency at the East Hampton Artists Residency, New York where Tremble was produced.  This is his debut solo exhibition in New York City.
