New Constructed Paintings and Drawings (Drawing Gallery)

During May and June the Frumkin/Adams Gallery will have its third show of the Australian painter, Colin Lanceley. This exhibition will focus on the artist's smaller scale works and drawings. Lanceley's paintings are constructed of found objects, carved elements, canvas, and paint. They combine whimsical formal invention with rich coloristic handling.
The artist's subjects range widely, as seen in the titles of the paintings: Early Bird, Vermeer Cooks an Egg, The Kingdom of the Snail and Sculptor and Model.
There is a new edition of a monograph on Colin Lanceley's work which will be available for reference during the exhibition.
The Lanceley exhibition will run from May 1st through the end of June in the Frumkin/Adams Drawing Gallery. Hours are 10 t o 6, Tuesday through Friday and 10 to 5:30 on Saturdays through the month of May. Summer hours starting in June will be Monday through Friday.
